The parents of a Black River High School student have filed a lawsuit charging officials with failing to protect their daughter from being sexually assaulted.

Mary "Francine" (Hupke) Gretch, a retired registered nurse, died of natural causes Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at Peace Hospice.

Breanne McKean, a senior at Mapleton High School, was a three-sport athlete. She played volleyball, basketball and softball. McKean was in advanced art, student council and the National Honor Society.
