NANKIN -- On June 21, a small group from Mapleton High School headed south of the border to explore Peru.

Ronald Caldwell, Tristan Pasco and Dakota Howell were sworn in Monday as firefighters/paramedics with the Ashland City Fire Department.

Club meeting notes

David “Swede” Grindberg, age 80 passed away March 25, 2022 in his Fargo home under the care of Sanford Hospice and surrounded by his family. His funeral will be held at Olivet Lutheran Church on Wednesday, March 30th at 1:30pm. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 29th at 6pm, with prayer service to follow at 7pm, also at Olivet.

In honor of Youth Art and National Music In Our Schools months, teachers in Ashland, Holmes and Wayne counties help their programs grow.

The remaining districts in the county seemed to take lessons from watching the donnybrook over the consolidation of Mapleton and Crestview.

Ashland Times Gazette The article about the establishment of the James H. and Mary K. Nearhood funds at the Community Foundation ("Teacher’s impact lives on through ACCF endowment" - May 11) brought back memories of taking Latin and French classes taught by Mrs. Nearhood at Mapleton High School.  She was an excellent teacher, fully devoted to the importance of student learning.  Mrs. Nearhood could be quite a task-master in the classroom, almost intimidating at first, however, once you...
