COVID-19 vaccine
The big one on Page 1 is about Government rolling out its COVID-19 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccination program at Nadi International airport yesterday. And ecstatic Lautoka Hospital consultant anaesthetist Dr Mara Vukivukiseru, the first Fijian in-country to receive the jab described the experience as “the first beautiful step in the right direction”. Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete said no Fijian would pay for the vaccine because Government had set aside $75 million to ensure Fiji keeps receiving regular doses.

The second story on Page 1 is about the news that market vendors selling yaqona may have to fork out $2000 per year in licence fee if a proposed Local Government (Municipal Market) Regulations 2020 comes into effect. Under the proposed regulation, anyone wishing to sell anything apart from fish, poultry and yaqona from a stall inside the market would need to pay $1000
