“Todd has been a cornerstone for St. Maries athletics,” said Bryan Chase, who currently coaches boys basketball and golf at St. Maries, and previously coached girls basketball. “His guidance and leadership will be greatly missed. Not only is Todd a great leader, but he is extremely organized. In all of my years coaching, I can’t think of any mixups in the schedule with other teams or refs.”

Eleven regional high school students each received $1,000 continuing education scholarships in honor of Dr. Jack Riggs for exemplifying leadership.

“To this day, just winning those state championships … definitely my greatest athletic achievement, I feel like,” Pruitt said. “And the mental toughness … on the mat, it’s you. The toughness it teaches you, conflict and defeat … I feel like wrestling did a whole lot in all aspects of my life.”

Bertie Woodin passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, at her home in Deary. Bertie was born Aug. 8, 1950, in Orofino to Robert and Blanche Carlson. The couple later divorced. Blanche married Ted Dorendorf when Bertie was 6 years old and they moved to Clarkia, Idaho. She graduated from St. Maries High School.
