The Community Award is awarded to individuals who build better, stronger and more resilient communities and serve as an example of dedication and service.

The university's board of governors voted 6–2 on a resolution that would end the bachelor of fine arts (visual arts, major), bachelor of arts (visual arts, minor), the diploma in visual arts, and the visual arts studio certificate.

The board voted 6-2 to discontinue TRU's visual arts major, minor, diploma and certificate, which will be phased out over the next three years.

An investigation into bullying and harassment claims involving two senior leaders at Thompson Rivers University has found that some allegations were valid, according to a report released by the Kamloops institution on Tuesday.
