The bilateral exercises are aimed at strengthening readiness to ensure preparedness to rapidly respond to crises throughout the Indo-Pacific.

The exercises come at a time of heightened tensions in the Pacific, caused in part by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the growing risk of Chinese aggression against Taiwan.
