The average property tax bill will increase by $268, according to a village budget handout.

The mayor has reimbursed "all of the money," said village accountant Emily Hayes, who works for the village as a contractor and conducted the review.

Last month, Huntington Bay Village Mayor Herb Morrow surrendered his village-issued credit card after a resident alleged he used it for personal expenses.

Contested races also were held in other villages, including in Bellport, Huntington Bay, Manorhaven, Ocean Beach and Sag Harbor.

Southampton voters will go to the polls on June 16 to pick a mayor — one of more than a half-dozen Long Island villages with contested races next month.
