Detroit Animal Care and Control dogs and cats are currently without veterinary care. Volunteers and the shelter are requesting community assistance.

All available dogs are microchipped and neutered and receive a veterinary exam which includes heartworm testing and vaccinations.

BISSELL Pet Foundation (BPF), in partnership with the city of Detroit, has announced its first-ever free spay/neuter clinic at Lasky Recreation Center in Detroit from June 1 to 4 to help decrease shelter overcrowding.

Concerns about overcrowding at animal shelters across the U.S. prompted the latest Empty the Shelters event this May.

The ‘Love Match’ week includes a commemorative photo, a certificate of appreciation, and of course a few treats for the new furry companion.

Dogs are neutered and come with a collar, leash, supply of food and goody bag with treats, according to Detroit Animal Care.

Additionally, any strays with microchips that escape this weekend will get a free ride home with all fines and violations waived.
