The Wadena Area Chamber of Commerce will host its first talent show during the June Jubilee. Auditions are June 2, and there will be a $1,000 prize for first place, $500 for runner-up.

“Aviation services are harder and harder to come by," Mark Lunde said in a recent interview. "There are people I know who travel hundreds and hundreds of miles to get their airplanes worked on.”

The new ordinance requires vehicles be parked on odd numbered side of street on odd numbered days and even numbered addresses on even days. This applies to parking from midnight to 7 a.m.

The general election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022. At the close of that election, three residents will be elected to the board. Three candidates are running for the three seats. They include incumbents Mark Lunde and Mayor George Deiss and former councilman Dan Sartell.

The “no winter parking” issue has some changes and a new “no parking” feature has been added.

You have until 5 p.m. on Aug. 16 to file for a seat.

Candidate filing will open Aug. 2 for 23 school board seats, spread across six lakes area school districts, and 11 city council seats in Detroit Lakes, Perham and Wadena. Candidates must pay up to a $5 filing fee, verify their address and complete registration for those elections before filing closes on Aug. 16 at 5 p.m., said one city clerk.

While some oppose the recent addition of two-hour parking, several business owners are asking for more.
