Plans are underway to set up a German-style village holiday market with ice skating and multiple attractions for five weeks starting in late November in the Centennial Commons downtown park.

STERLING HEIGHTS — Two organizations that promote Michigan’s local governments have recently honored Sterling Heights leaders and staff.

George Lahanas was the top candidate of all five city council members after interviewing earlier this month.

The candidates will interview with the city council Feb. 4 during public meetings.

The East Lansing City Council voted unanimously on Jan. 16 to dismiss George Lahanas after more than a decade on the job.

The city council recently authorized a contract with Livonia-based OHM Advisors to investigate the property to ensure it will be a good fit.

Mark Wollenweber, who formerly oversaw communities in Macomb County and eastern Wayne County, will serve in the citys top spot on a temporary basis.
