I have gotten my tape measure out, just 2, right here, in this parking lot. And as you can see, its piling up on surfaces. These cars that have been sitting here, covered with snow. But, the good news is, this kind of snow is a very powdery snowfall, so you can easily wipe it away from your cars. But, underneath that, you see that layer of ice there . Thats also what you are going to see on those roads. So, have the windshield scraper ready to go this morning as you make your way out to your cars. Not a lot of incidents right now, but certainly that was not the case earlier. Earlier in greer, there was at least one accident that involved traffic and weather conditions. A lot of people are pacing themselves as they make their way home this evening, and the inclement weather we were expecting earlier doesnt seem to be showing up, and thats good news for a number of reasons. Spartanburg County has seen some restaurants and other stores close permanently because of the pandemic. Meanwhile, others are struggling to survive.
Eight months ago, Gov. Henry McMaster issued executive orders closing restaurants and many stores to stop the spread of the virus. No stay-at-home orders or mask mandates were issued but residents were encouraged to stay at home and health officials continued to urge residents to wear face coverings and practice social distancing guidelines outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
