A recent study shows a shared genetic ancestry for the hundreds of millions of people who speak what the researchers call Transeurasian languages. They include modern Japanese, Korean, Turkish and Mongolian.

Five languages are claimed to have  emerged from a common ancestor who farmed northeast China some 9,000 years ago, according to a new study.
