The Royal Navy will see its sailors go on strike for the first time in history following anger among workers over low pay.

The Nautilus union balloted its members over strike action after they received a 4.5% pay offer - well below last years inflation rate.

Nautilus describes the move as a new low for the ferry operator

Cruise operator Carnival UK was embroiled in a fire and rehire controversy last week (23 November), after it made legal provision to fire more than 900 UK-based crew and rehire them on less favourable conditions.

Carnival has removed the paperwork in question and denied any current plan to use the fire and rehire technique.
