In a few weeks’ time, cult favourites The Tiger Lillies will become the first western act to play Ukraine since the Russian invasion.

The music of the veteran three-piece band the Tiger Lillies has sometimes been referred to as street opera, and you can readily see — and hear — why. Founded in 1989 by the frontman and songwriter Martyn Jacques, the group has a distinctive sound pitched somewhere between Weimar-era Berlin and punk.
