There is a 30% chance of continued light, scattered rainfall Monday then a 20% chance Monday night and Tuesday.  

If this weather pattern holds long term, 2023 could see extreme drought conditions rivaling the drought year of record 2011.  

SAN ANGELO, TX — Canadian Special Forces were in San Angelo last week conducting exercises. When we talked to the leaders of the group that arrived here in two C-130J aircraft at Mathis Field, they said they love the clear skies and weather in San Angelo.

Officially at Mathis Field, 2.49 inches of rain has fallen since Monday.  That puts the total rainfall for the year at 6.1 inches which is still 7.94 inches below average for September 1.  

 At this pace, 2022 could rival 2011 as one of the driest and hottest years in recorded history for San Angelo.  

Records fell like flies in 2011 at Mathis Field in San Angelo.  After a slightly below normal January, average monthly temperatures (the average of the highs and lows for each day) were above the normal values for each month from February through November, despite one of the strongest arctic outbreaks in nearly 30 years arriving with the beginning of February.

Vertex completes detailed inspections and repairs known as aircraft condition inspections, or ACIs. Vertex strips down the aircraft, make thorough inspection, repairs as needed. The company also modernizes aircraft by adding new systems to the cockpit.

Residents shared images of large hail and a video of a possible tornado in Dove Creek Tuesday afternoon.  No widespread damage has been reported as of Wednesday morning.  There was also a report of a tornado on the ground in the vicinity of Sterling City which is also not been confirmed yet. 

About 30 Mooney airplanes will converge at the airport, San Angelo Mathis Field, on April 21-24 for a weekend formation flying clinic.

DEL RIO, TX — Two Laughlin Air Force Base T-38Cs were involved in a mishap on the base near Del Rio at about 10 a.m. today. One pilot was killed and two pilots were injured, according to the 47 Flying Training Wing Public Affairs office.
