Over the weekend, people gathered at parks and on trails across Waterloo region, Guelph and Wellington County to pick up litter ahead of Earth Day on Monday. CBC Kitchener-Waterloo was part of the cleanup of Max Becker Common in the neighbourhood of Williamsburg in Kitchener.

There are many neighbourhood cleanups this weekend ahead of Earth Day, plus concerts, a tabletop gaming convention and book sales.

CBC K-W spent a week in Williamsburg as part of our Communities in Focus initiative. During that week, reporters got to know more about the area, business owners, residents and community leaders.
