Socialist Equality Party assistant national secretary Max Boddy calls on workers and young people in Australia to sign up as an SEP electoral member.

The SEP is fighting to provide the working class with a political voice, in opposition to the pro-genocide, pro-war Labor government and political establishment.

More than 150 workers and young people joined the meeting to discuss the way forward for the working class in the fight to stop Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

In key working-class suburbs, the SEP speakers raised the need for independent action by workers to stop the genocide and fight militarism.

The meeting, hosted by the Socialist Equality Group and International Youth and Students for Social Equality, discussed the genocide unfolding in Gaza and the way forward for the mass international protests to stop Israel’s slaughter and the developing Third World War.

Maritime Union of Australia officials were as conspicuously absent from the speaker list on Saturday as the Contship Dax was from Port Botany.

“Mobilising the international working class is the only way that we can get out of this situation and prevent future wars. The only solution is socialism.”

The strong proactive response to the meeting reflects the sharp changes in mass consciousness internationally, driven by deep-seated anti-war sentiment and mass hostility to the establishment governments, parties and the corporate media.

While professing hostility to the genocide in Gaza, MUA officials reacted with fury to a Socialist Equality Party member asking if they would take any action to stop it.

The club won enthusiastic support from students for its condemnation of Israel’s genocidal assault on Palestinians and the complicity of Australian, US and world governments.
