GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — C.J. Mayhue gave up a run on three hits with no walks and two strikeouts over 5 innings, Josh Moylan and Justin Wilcoxen each hit a home run and top-seeded ECU beat No. 2 seed Virginia 4-2 on Saturday night.

A seven-run rally in the fourth and a four-run output in the seventh powered No. 12 Virginia (36-12, 15-10 ACC) to a 11-6 series-opening win over Clemson.

Behind a strong pitching performance from Griffin Greene, No. 7 Virginia Tech (29-9, 12-7 ACC) defeated No. 11 Virginia (32-10, 13-9 ACC) 5-2 on Friday.

Jake Gelof didn’t go deep, didn’t even get a hit. Fifth-ranked Virginia still scored eight runs in a Game 1 win over Wake Forest.
