Municipal officials ask Hallowell-area school board about ‘Plan B’ budget, but the district doesn’t have one

HALLOWELL Reviewing the Regional School Unit 2 budget for the 2021-2022 school year Monday night, municipal officials asked district leaders if they had a “Plan B” if the spending plan was voted down.

Doug Ide appointed Hallowell’s interim city manager
The current Code Enforcement Officer was appointed as the Interim City Manager at a special meeting of the City Council on Monday.

HALLOWELL Current city Code Enforcement Officer Doug Ide was appointed to the position of interim city manager Monday.
The unanimous decision came after a 25-minute executive session at the beginning of a special meeting via Zoom. Ide, who is also a selectman in Manchester, has been city’s code enforcement officer for more than four years.
Ide will take over for outgoing City Manager Nate Rudy, who is leaving the position to become the town manager of Gray.

Mayor George Lapointe said Rudy s departure will hamper some of the city s progress on larger issues in the short term, as a new hire will have to be brought up to speed.
