It’s been a year and a half since it developed, but nearly all signs of the sinkhole that opened in Hinton along W.Va. 20 have been erased.

HUNTINGTON — Amtrak’s Cardinal service line is set to return to daily runs after more than 40 years of running for three days a week, Amtrak announced last week.

The Cardinal line operates between New York City; Washington, D.C.; Cincinnati; Indianapolis; and Chicago. The line has stops in Huntington, Charleston, Montgomery, Thurmond, Prince, Hinton, Alderson and White Sulphur Springs in West Virginia.

Recovering from tornadoes that touched down in their city last month, residents of Cordova, Alabama are angry that Mayor Jack Scott has cited a local ordinance barring single wide mobile homes to be set up as temporary housing. To show their displeasure with Scott’s trailer position--which some believe is rooted in economic discrimination--opponents have protested at public forums.
