Circumstance. but i defer to experts. >> i think a, he was briefed -- >> how low is the bar, breaking news banner, trump was briefed on iran? are you guys kidding me. go ahead. >> more significantly number two, i think he was told that he needed to do his best to manage expectations how we were going to react. >> and the fact he said it could have been a lower level person that did this, in diplomacy circles its saying, hey, ayatollah, you can say this was a mistake, that it was lower level peop...

Hs shot down mh-17. the real target was putins presidential plane. even floating the idea it was stuffed with corpses before it took off. some of these stories were picked up by state media. russia protested the investigation, was biased against them, and tried to hack it. now three russians have been charged with murder all with kremlin ties. is likewise, after the murder of jamal khashoggi, saudi arabia played dumb. first they tried the outright lie with mbs telling reporters, my understanding...

There is this belief that the alliance of saudi arabia is good for the west in financial terms, in military terms. but theres a couple of things here. number one, several companies in europe, scandinavian countries have actually said we are not going to sell as many weapons as we did before. we are going to put restrictions both because of what saudi arabia is doing in yemen and because of this extra judicial murder of jamal khashoggi inside the consulate in turkey. and secondly, there is this a...

With respect to the constant irritation that is growing into tension between the united states and iran, obviously saudi arabia is an interested party in that. youve got israel and saudi arabia bode poking the bear a little bit. how does that innuance what happens with iran? >> hugely. theres a huge debate as to whether donald trump wants a war with iran. when he was campaigning he claimed he didnt want new wars in the middle east. we know there are multiple factors here. john bolton wants a war...

With a bone saw shouldnt be trusted with nuclear weapons. this is a story about murder, money and nuclear weapons in the middle east. nothing good comes from that. president trumps actions essentially give the green light to this kind of murderous misbehavior. if you wonder what it looks like to get away with murder, look at this. that smirking high five between putin and mbs, i have never seen putin happier. thats it. all with the tacit approval of the american president. sometimes it doesnt ju...

>> every time you think the president cant say something more outrageous, he surprises you. i mean, i cant imagine a single person running for president in the past who has said i welcome foreign governments helping our campaign. and his allegation that members of congress do this all the time is absurd. i dont know a single member of congress, republican or democrat, who has taken information from a foreign power. and we should ask every member of congress on the record if they have. >> you hav...

Im sure that that on an actual level is not true. but on a support level, on a friendship level, on a would mbs have murdered khashoggi if he didnt know that he had the absolute support of jared kushner and this white house, i dont know. but he certainly did have the absolute support. in fact, one -- theres a point in the book where africa show gi is murdered and the white house doesnt know how to respond and jared calls up mbs and says, i think youd better execute all those guys very quickly. t...

The president basically scoffing at that reporter saying why are you bringing this up. what is going on here? >> the trump administration is holding against the fight in iran and isis in that region. a real politic approach theyre taking here. separating a lot of what mbs is doing in yemen and relationship with the murder of khashoggi and separating that from needing an ally in the region against iran. that is why jared kushner was kicking the question, we will wait for the report and donald tru...

About it. and i think you are right. i think the fact that he is willing to say that i didnt do anything wrong, even in hind sight -- put yourselves in my shoes. i now understand that that wasnt something that i should be involved with, that would be one thing. he is saying that nothing happened that is wrong. his excuse is i was running three companies. why do you go to a meeting if you dont know what it is about? why would it be something that wouldnt bother you afterwards when you realize wha...

Will cause some problems with the unveiling. he said palestinian governments might not be able to govern themselves without israeli security help. jonathan did a great job of asking jared kushner questions about his relationship with mbs drawing specifically the fact that intelligence communities have linked the murder to the "washington post" journalist and bombing civilians in yemen. what does he see in this guy? jared sort of dodged that and focused more on saudi arabias traditional role of t...
