Bonhams' auction of The Crown's costumes and props is like a closing down sale of the Royal family

Aside from the late Queen herself, her ladies-in-waiting and Michael Fagan, the intruder who broke into Buckingham Palace in 1982, very few can claim to have set foot in Her Majestys bedroom.

More than 450 props, gowns and sets from all six seasons of Netflix's The Crown are to be sold in a live and online auction next month with proceeds funding a host of scholarship places for future filmmakers.

Items in the lot include Princess Diana’s revenge dress, Jackie Kennedy’s pink suit to Queen Elizabeth II’s gowns and Launer handbags.

She was an influential figure across music, film and fashion.

French media have reported that she was found dead at her home in Paris.

Singer and actress Jane Birkin has died at the age of 76, according to French media.

The Craft of Luxury: Haute Couture and Handbags is expected to make just over £370,000 as items by Valentino, Hermes, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana and Dior go under the hammer.
