Saturday's event coincided with Minnesota's Take a Kid Fishing Weekend, in which a parent could fish without a fishing license if they took their children out and joined them in the sport.

A grade 5 Bert Ambrose Elementary student took first place in the District Speech Contest on Tuesday.

Careers in science, the outdoors, music, technology, medicine and industry were all on display for high school students Tuesday at the Southwest Minnesota Career Expo at Minnesota West.
