Its a good thing topper doesnt have more snow in the forecast because arlington is about to run out of salt. This is their only supply right here and because of those low supplies theyve been cutting back on the amount of salt they put on the roads and that might have had something to do with all the problems today. This car was trying for over an hour to get out of that parking space right there. Reporter the owner had to call a tow truck just to get his car out of a parking place. When wusa9 learned of a woman in a wheelchair stuck in her home because of the snow, we went to check it out. We met Melissa Ortiz whose only access in and out of her home is an alley. When we learned of her plight, a Good Samaritan helped her out. Surae chinn talked with her today. Reporter she is so grateful to her neighbors and that Good Samaritan. Trucks sliding today in northern virginia. A lot of roads hadnt been treated or plowed by midmorning. Some were even blocked off. Peggy fox reports from arlington tonight where the problem is not enough salt. Reporter Arlington County has been cutting back because of its depleting supply of salt. Maybe that had something to do with the blocked off and slippery roads this morning. Winter held its icy grip through afternoon despite the bright sunshine. On i66 through rosslyn icy actions among those sections shaded by the sound barrier five cars crashed into each other. Its slippery and too dangerous outside right now. Reporter this morning the icy roads and highways were treacherous. This tractor trailer crashed on i95 in the southbound lanes just south of the occoquan bridge. On i66 a tractor trailer ended up on its side. This morning most neighborhood streets in Fairfax County looked like theyd seen a plow truck or two but not in arlington.
