Taiwan-based memory chipmakers Winbond Electronics and Nanya Technology will likely land more short lead-time orders from PC customers in May-June, boosting their sales performance in the second quarter, according to industry sources.

In an interview for the documentary produced as part of DIGITIMESs 25th anniversary, Winbond chairman Arthur Chiao discussed his companys journey so far, its adoption of ESG, as well as the recent downturn in the memory market.

With the semiconductor market in a downturn, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have seen their 1Q23 performances seriously affected. Although both companies are positive about a semiconductor market recovery in the second half of 2023, South Korean industries have had differing views and are paying close attention to future developments.

Relevant patent applications were published with the United States Patent Application Publication on April 6, 2023.

Winbond Electronics, a maker of specialty DRAM and flash memory, swung to its first quarterly loss in three years.
