That orange county area gets at it. but republicans in 2014. it was about 51% of the vote were suburban voters. republicans won by 12. this time 49% republican, 49% democratic. >> why? >> because i think what youre seeing trumps message doesnt -- what you have a lot in the suburbs, fiscally conservative, socially moderate. they vote for republicans. but trump, and you saw this in the exit poll, trump is someone who those voters, particularly female voters, with female suburban voters cant stomac...

Seen at rallies throughout this year, but hes really stepping up the pace of them now. and clearly enjoying being able to be himself, being able to talk tough about things like body slamming a reporter, things like cracking down on illegal immigration at the border. i think to some degree republicans need for him to be doing this. they need for him to be activating the conservative base, they need to be activating the, you know, sort of trump coalition that came out to elect him if they have any...

Wages. what we saw happen yesterday is that not only is the unemployment rate at a 69 year low, wages went up in the third quarter, 3.3%, the first time it surpassed infla out from the midterms. the democrats argument is, well, wages arent going up, and now they are. how do you run against that as a democrat. >> you run against all the other things the president is doing and saying every day, that seems to be working relatively well with them. if you imagine an alternate universe where you had a...

That message doesnt sell in most communities. >> can we put that picture back up of the swearing in? jason, what republicans are arguing is that getting that picture is worth it. right? for the republican base, thats it. thats all they care about is getting that. and that no matter what women had to go through, so what. >> it doesnt matter. and whats interesting, i found is in a lot of the responses from the members of congress and the senators who were bring themselves to say i believe dr. ford...

Repeal. we either say were going to vote on the previous repeal or were not voting for it. that needs to be a strong message, a loud message to leadership that we ran on a policy of repeal. were not supporting partial repeal. if that message doesnt get through, were going to have a big fight -- >> neil: are there enough that share that view or could this get stymied here? a lot of people have said we shouldnt have made this our signature issue. maybe tax cuts, corporate reform or something first...

Word this is rigged. that message doesnt play any more. the new york times is not a real paper. they want to hear him talk policy. stop saying the system is rigged. >> they call them dark polls, theyre phony polls put out by phony media. all of us are affected by this stuff, they try to suppress the vote. this way people dont go out and vote. were winning this race, i really believe were winning. >> i just -- i dont even know what to say, this is a man who started his rally, after rally, after r...

These guests because they want to throw -- like whats the point of that? because when it comes right down to it, dont you want each candidate to present their vision of america to the american people? dont you want your vision to sound better than theirs? so why do you have to bring people into the audience to shake the other candidate up? >> i think this began with the introduction of mark cuban into this situation. they were going to bring him in to somehow try and freak donald trump out which...

Ahead by seven points i think was just devastating for him. it showed only one-third of voters trust his temperament, only one-third of voters trust his judgment over hillary clinton. these are really damaging metrics if you are trying to run for president and make the case that you are fit for the presidency. so thats i think the case that donald trump is going to need to make, but he hasnt been making it. over the past week or two, instead hes been focusing on conspiracy theories, basically la...

Argue that leveling the playing field and winner take all economy, its interesting that message doesnt seem to have created the political moment for democrats that you would think it would. theres polling that came out during the election that showed more people than ever see a widening gap between rich and poor. more people than ever see a class conflict between rich and poor. but somehow that doesnt translate into political momentum. i think it has to do with the fact that americans refuse to ...

Andy croll. lauren, a very aggressive sarah palin. lets take a listen to this as she went after president obama. >> refusing to pass a budget is government refusing to declare what it intends to do with the peoples money. barack obama promised the most transparent administration ever. barack obama -- >> you know, pretty inflammatory rhetoric there. do people there realize that that kind of message doesnt really resonate beyond that room? >> i dont think so. i have spent the last two days at cpac...
