Exhibiting its widest lineup of electrified vehicles to date at the show, Nissan will debut the two cars alongside a facelifted version of the Kicks e-Power.

The French-Japanese alliance of Renault, Nissan, and Mitsubishi plan to spend $25.8 billion (€23 billion) to develop electric vehicle technology over the next five years.

It took Nissan quite a while to honor its role as an electrification pioneer. Despite being the first brand to present a modern mass-market electric car – the LEAF – the company failed to deliver new ones to expand the EV lineup. That will change thanks to Ambition 2030, the company’s strategic plan toward electrification.

For those who were worried about the future of the Nissan Leaf, the brand’s Europe boss said there’s nothing to worry about. Guillaume Cartier told British magazines that the compact electric hatchback would be replaced by a compact SUV produced at the Sunderland plant. If you think it will be the Ariya, forget about it: it’s something else.

Renault has announced its electric transition and pursuit for profitability would have a name of its own: Renaulution. This plan does not include only new electric cars such as the Mégane E-Tech Electric and the new generations of the Renault 5 and Renault 4 (already named 4Ever).
