MDI Drama is scheduled to perform its first spring play in three years at Mount Desert Island High School’s Higgins Demas Theater this Friday. 

MDI High School students Francis Burns and Cedar Ellis have written music for “Dark Night of the Soul,” which the show choir will perform at the festival at Stearns High School. 

“One thing you can count on from MDI is that each year brings a new genre of storytelling,” commented one judge.

This was the first time a student-written play has won the regional round of the drama fest

The Downeast Regional of the Maine Drama Festival will be held in the school’s auditorium on March 26.
