LOWELL — An autopsy of Elena Vainer determined the 51-year-old Reading woman died as a result of blunt force trauma and mechanical asphyxia — injuries prosecutors say were inflicted by her own flesh and blood.

Belous was previously charged with assault and battery on a household or family member, and assault and battery causing serious bodily injury after Vainer was found dead inside a Lowell home on July 17.

EVER SINCE Lowell City Councilor Corey Robinson was arraigned in November at Lowell District Court on two counts of alleged domestic assault and battery on a household/family member, his private legal peril has dominated the people’s business.

LOWELL — Judge William Travaun Bailey ordered Michael Belous, the Lowell man accused of beating his mother to death last week, to be held with no conditions of release, following a 58A dangerousness hearing in Lowell District Court on Wednesday.
