His actions and the actions of others disrupted a joint session of the U.S. Congress convened to ascertain and count the electoral votes related to the 2020 presidential election.

A Wichita man was sentenced to twenty months in prison after admitting to shoving a Capitol officer during the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Two years have passed since the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. The legal cases of hundreds of people charged in connection with the insurrection are still winding their way through the courts.

An assistant U.S. attorney said evidence in the case included video of Michael Eckerman at the Capitol. “In one such video, Mr. Eckerman shouted, ‘I went all the way in, knocked over six cops…’”
