The father of stabbing victim Damilola Taylor has said society has broken down following news a 15-year-old girl was allegedly murdered on the streets of Croydon by a schoolboy.

The 15-year-old girl was stabbed as she got off a bus after people witnessed a stand off between a boy and his ex-girlfriend, with the Met Police continuing to question a 17-year-old boy

An eyewitness has said blood was "coming like water" after the schoolgirl was attacked during morning rush hour.

The suspect and Eliyanna are understood to have known each other

Eliyanna Andam, a pupil at Old Palace of John Whitgift private school in Croydon was attacked at 8.30am - less than a mile away from the school gates.

The 17-year-old remains in police custody today as the family and friends of his victim, named locally as Eliyanna, mourn her death before school in South London, yesterday.

A teenage girl was knifed to death on her way to school yesterday after ‘stepping in to protect a friend’.

Eliyanna Andam is believed to have put herself in harms way to protect herself from a 12-inch blade.

Elianne Andam, a pupil at the Old Palace of John Whitgift school, was attacked at 8.30am yesterday while she made her way to school.
