A Mexican fisherman became the first person killed in a shark attack this year after he was reportedly decapitated in an attack by a 19-foot great white shark.

The 31-year-old surfer is now recovering following the California great white shark attack. A great white shark attack was reported in a beach in Ferndale, California, involving a surfer named Michael 'Jared' Trainor, 31, who drove to the beach back on October 2.

Michael Trainor, 31, was attacked by a shark while surfing on Oct. 2. Doctors say he is lucky to have escaped with his life after the shark narrowly missed his femoral artery.
