The remains were identified after an investigation and assistance from the State of Montana Medical Examiner’s Office, the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System and Othram Inc.

The remains belonged to Michael Moler, a 63-year-old man from Midland, Texas, said Sheriff Chip Kem in a news release.

The man enlisted in the Army after high school and “served in Germany as an Intelligence Specialist,” according to his obituary.
