Covid-19 hotspots in Wokingham after 71 new cases

There were nine confirmed cases in Earley and another nine in Woodley East. Sonning and Woodley recorded six cases of the virus and Wokingham West and South recorded five. There were four confirmed cases in South Lake, four in Arborfield Garrison and three in Lower Earley North. Crowthorne North and Woodley South both recorded three cases of Covid-19. The other 10 areas of Wokingham each recorded fewer than three cases. Public Health England states: “For smaller areas with fewer than three cases, we do not show data. This is to protect individuals’ identities.”

The latest figures show 50 people tested positive for the virus in West Berkshire between February 25 and March 4 – 52 fewer than in the previous week. Public Health England has broken down the data to show the number of confirmed cases recorded in local neighbourhoods, which are known as Middle Super Output Areas (MSOAs). In Thatcham Town, nine people tested positive for Covid-19 in that week. There were seven confirmed cases in Thatcham North East, six in Lambourn and Great Shefford and four in Mortimer and Aldermaston.

For reference, the map is divided into Middle Super Output Areas (MSOAs), which are areas with an average population of 7,200. It then colour-codes MSOAs depending on their seven day rolling infection rate, with areas placed into the boundaries of 0-9 (yellow), 10-49 (light green), 50-99 (dark green), 100-199 (light blue), 200-399 (dark blue), 400 to 799 (light purple) and 800 plus (dark purple).
