The city of Deerwood will celebrate its 150th anniversary (or sesquicentennial) with a four-day celebration starting Thursday, July 7. There will be a parade, children’s activities, fireworks, entertainment, food vendors, a farmers market, open houses and more.
Fund-backed work targeting Serpent Lake achieved its goal, reversing a downward trend in water quality. The lake is twice as clear as it was 10 years ago. Stormwater projects in Deerwood and Crosby reduce how much phosphorus enters the lake.
Parker Hannifin is closing its Deerwood plant and moving those jobs to Wisconsin. Work to shutter the Parker Hose Products Division facility in Deerwood is beginning immediately with the plan to complete the closing by the end of the year. Thirty.
"Given their track record of twice firing officer Smith, only to see him reinstated twice; and bringing multiple charges against Crosby Mayor Jim Hunter, all of which were either dismissed or found to be not guilty, Chief Taylor made the decision to record conversations when both Chief Coughlin and Lt. Randolph started calling him with accusations, including at one point sue the City of Deerwood. Similar calls were also being made at times to Deerwood Mayor Mike Aulie who did not record the calls," the council's statement stated.
