The Granite School District Board of Education has voted to close Millcreek, Twin Peaks and Spring Lane elementary schools.

Enrollment is dropping in many of Utah’s public schools. Utah’s declining birth rate, gentrification, rising housing prices and the growing availability of school choice options are likely contributing.

A fifth grader at Millcreek Elementary school was named junior fire chief Monday to kick off Fire Prevention Month.

The Granite Education Foundation operates seven food pantries across the Granite School District and 28 schools have some sort of food program. The district houses more than 64,000 students, 54% of whom live at or below the poverty level.

"Girls Who Game" is a new program that has been launched in Fayette County to encourage young girls to pursue degrees and careers in STEM.
