An Alachua County man was sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years probation Tuesday for hitting and killing a man last year.

Robert Duncan ran over Daniel Farmer while intoxicated on Millhopper road last year. Prosecutors are dropping two charges against the driver, but the State Attorney is still pursuing a charge of vehicular homicide.

Alachua County got its first scenic road designation since 2004 — the countys sixth overall — Tuesday, with Micanopys Tuscawilla Road. An apparent suicide on Interstate 75 at the Millhopper Road overpass blocked northbound traffic Thursday afternoon while travelers headed south were slowed, agencies reported.
