The chance to witness the aurora borealis, commonly known as the northern lights, in Maryland is only possible if the sky conditions behave, WJZ's Chief Meteorologist Derek Beasley reports.

Aurora borealis could be visible across Scotland, as well as possibly Northern Ireland and much of northern England, the Met Offices Space Weather arm has said.

Skywatchers can expect another display of the Northern Lights in northern Scotland as solar winds race towards Earth.

Solar wind is blowing from the sun with unusual intensity these days, and space weather forecasters think it might make polar lights brighter.
