The Capital City Cavaliers, Jefferson City Jays and Helias Crusaders will start Class 5 District 7 Tournament boys action today at Warrensburg High School. Fourth-seeded Jefferson City (11-14) and fifth-seeded Capital City (13-13) will meet at 5:30 p.m.

On the first Senior Night in program history, the Capital City Cavaliers beat their crosstown-rival Jefferson City 77-72 for the first time. As the buzzer sounded, Cavalier students stormed the court and players threw their hands in the air in celebration. It was easy to tell how much this win meant to the Cavaliers.

Borgia scored the first nine points of the game and jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the first four minutes. The Knights would never looked back behind a big night from sophomore forward Adam Rickman, who finished with game-highs of 26 points and 16 rebounds.

The Capital City Cavaliers gave the Blair Oaks Falcons everything they had in the first half Wednesday night. But the second half belonged to the Falcons, who overcame a 10-point deficit in the first half to beat the Cavaliers 76-61 at Capital City High School.

Desmond White was all over the floor. White scored 34 points, brought down 16 rebounds and dished out nine assists to help the Helias Crusaders hold off a massive comeback for an 81-73 Central Missouri Activities Conference win Friday against the Capital City Cavaliers at Capital City High School.

Capital City had no answer for Kanyon Hummel. The 6-foot-8 forward racked up 26 points on the way to a 55-36 Rock Bridge Bruins win against the Capital City Cavaliers during Central Missouri Activities Conference action Tuesday night at Capital City High School.

The Capital City Cavaliers had plenty of quickness Monday night, but the Tulsa Union (Okla.) Redhawks had plenty of height. “I thought our guys played as hard as they could,” Capital City coach Darrin Young said after the Cavaliers’ 67-31 first-round loss to the Redhawks in the Joe Machens Great 8 Classic at Fleming Fieldhouse.
