Temps around 80 will be common this week in the Twin Cities and there will be a couple of waves moving through the atmosphere that could touch off showers and storms in Minnesota.

If storms dissipate on Sunday morning, the chances are greater for severe weather later.

Temps in the 60s and 70s –maybe even 80 in southwestern Minnesota – along with dew points around 60 and a strong cold front could lead to severe storms in Minnesota on Saturday.

Its mostly rain Wednesday morning in the Twin Cities, but if you venture further north youll find quite a bit of snow associated with a meandering spring storm that is delivering blows of cold rain, snow and wind to the region.

A significant storm system remains on track to bring Minnesota rain, snow, sleet and freezing rain, but where those types of precipitations fall will ultimately be determined by the precise storm track and temperatures at the surface and aloft.

Three clipper systems are poised to track over Minnesota Friday, Saturday and Sunday-Monday.
