UAE s AI university welcomes first students

SHARE Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence welcomed its first students during an online event on Tuesday. The 78 students from 29 countries will begin their studies in Abu Dhabi this week. There are 14 Emiratis in the cohort. International students began arriving in Abu Dhabi in November to receive a cultural introduction to the UAE, and to complete Covid-19 health and safety precautionary measures. Dr Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and chairman of the MBZUAI board of trustees, in his welcome speech to the students emphasised the importance of AI. “I am delighted to welcome the first cohort. With global expertise and a truly international student body hailing from 29 countries, the university will empower the UAE to become a leader in the field of AI,” he said.
