Two Oceanside residents were displaced by a fire but uninjured thanks to a neighbor alerting firefighters of smoke early Monday morning.

- A fire in the back bedroom of a residence displaced two residents who escaped the flames Monday, according to the Oceanside Fire Department.

The elementary school campus closed in 2007 and has been vacant since 2013. The school district is in escrow with a housing developer.
