Out of the total of 9 cases in the country, 4 cases are from Delhi while the remaining five have been reported from Kerala. 

The 22-year-old man in Kerala died of monkeypox disease on Saturday. The government has isolated 21 people who had come in contact with him.  

Samples of a 22-year-old man, who died in Kerala on July 30, have come out positive for the monkeypox virus. The man had recently returned from the UAE where also his samples had tested positive for the disease, news agency PTI reported.

Monkeypox has been suspected in a 22-year-old returnee from UAE who died in Thrissur district of Kerala yesterday. 

State Health Minister Veena George initiated a high-level inquiry into the death of a youth, presenting with monkeypox-like symptoms. The youth hailed from Chavakkad Kuranjiyur in Thrissur district andtested positive in a foreign country.

The patient's death is seen as surprising because India has so far confirmed only five cases of the disease

The state health minister also said that there were no studies available about this particular variant from other countries where the disease has been detected and thus, Kerala was carrying out a study on it.

Spain on Saturday reported its second monkeypox-related death, one day after announcing what is believed to be the first fatality linked to the current outbreak in Europe.

The case was reported on Friday in Belo Horizonte, capital of the southeast Minas Gerais state, and the victim was a 41-year-old man, who was undergoing treatment for other serious clinical conditions, including cancer, and whose health deteriorated after getting infected, the Ministry said on Friday. 🌎 Monkeypox Outbreak: Brazil Confirms First Monkeypox-Related Death.

After Brazil reported its first death due to monkeypox outside Africa, Spain recorded its first death due to the virus as the monkeypox virus continues to spread in Europe. Spain has confirmed 4,298 monkeypox cases with at least 120 being hospitalised. The country's health ministry hasn't released information on the deceased person so far.
