The Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) has confirmed the first monkeypox-related death in Indiana.

The Cleveland Department of Health announced Thursday afternoon that Cleveland marked its first death associated with the monkeypox virus.

The Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) says an Indiana resident has died and monkeypox was a contributing factor.

A North Jersey resident who tested positive for monkeypox in September died last month. Cases have declined significantly, but the virus is still circulating.

In Delhi, the first case of monkeypox was reported on July 24.

The Los Angeles Department of Public Health announced on Monday that the areas first death due to monkeypox has been confirmed.

Out of thousands of cases, the death was one of the first confirmed fatalities from the virus in the U.S.
