Montreal Area Code News Today

Montreal's new area code, 263, has been in place for almost a month since its debut on October 22, when it stepped in to relieve the other area codes as they run out of new available numbers. The 438 and 514 codes were predicted to run out in 2027, according to the Canadian Numbering Administrator (CNA), which runs periodic forecasts to track when new codes need to be introduced.

Montreal recently got a new area code as the oldies, 514 and 438, begin to run out of numbers. 438 was introduced for the same reason, but 514 is different — it came along in the first-ever set of area codes in Canada.

First, there was 514, then there was 438. Now, as of Saturday, October 22, a new Montreal area code has entered the ring: 263. This change has been in the works for a while, and here's what it means for Montrealers.
