The GoFirst flights from Goas Mopa International Airport will connect the city with Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad in the current network plan, reports PTI.

Mopa International Airport in Goa will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 11 during his visit to the state. Back in November, PM set the airport's cornerstone, and since then, the airport has been constructed for around Rs 2,870 crores.

The airport can currently handle 8.5 MPPA of passengers (million passengers per annum). The total passenger handling capacity will rise to about 13 MPPA with the opening of Mopa airport. 

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to inaugurate the Mopa International Airport in Goa on Sunday, official sources said the number of operational airports in the country has almost doubled from 74 to over 140 since he took over in 2014.

PM Modi would also be addressing the 9th World Ayurveda Congress.

On Sunday, in all, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will either inaugurate or flag off a dozen projects and trains other than laying foundation stone for three other projects. All of them are in and around Nagpur and Goa.
