Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has appealed to people to follow the instructions by the administration.

The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in 39 districts, including Bhopal, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Ratlam, Neemuch and Mandsaur.

The CM continued to monitor the situation across the state amid heavy rains since morning and is in constant touch with the state control room. He issued necessary instructions to the authorities to tackle the situation and provide relief to people.

Besides, the state recorded a 23% surplus rainfall. The West division recorded 46% surplus rainfall while the east division recorded 2% deficit rainfall. The state recorded 470mm rainfall while its normal rainfall is 382.8mm.

The IMD also issued two yellow alerts, one forecasting likely heavy rainfall at isolated places in Khandwa district and Bhopal and Narmadapuram divisions, and the second for possible thunderstorms with lightning at isolated places in the districts of 10 divisions, including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior.
