Lower Makefield Wegmans' plan gets $3M for traffic upgrades, new trail
Road widening work for the Route 332 Bypass and the I-295 interchange in Lower Makefield is getting $3 million in state grants to help fund the project.
The traffic improvements are part of the $7 million commitment by developers at the recently approved Prickett Preserve at Edgewood redevelopment.
Earlier this month, Lower Makefield officials approved a conditional use application for the project that included a Wegmans, 200 apartments, and several retail and dining spots to the 36-acre property on Stony Hill Road.
Township residents, during a series of public meetings, raised concerns about the traffic impact of the housing and large grocery store on the already busy intersection and nearby roads, including Stony Hill, which is home to popular Shady Brook Farms that draws big crowds during seasonal operations.
