The Rainier Valley landmark and piece of Cambodian refugee history evolves once again.

The stretch of Rainier Avenue where the iconic store Mutual Fish recently closed looks very different from five years ago. And more change is coming.

Sometimes, we can't help but look back at Seahawks history. It was a decade ago when the magical 2013 season unfolded and culminated in a Super Bowl title.

The market was opened by current co-owner Harry Yoshimura's father in 1946.

A famous family fish market that's been operating in Seattle for several generations is shutting its doors for the last time in mid-September.  

The Yoshimura family is retiring and leaving a void in South Seattle with the closure of Mutual Fish, a seafood shop icon.

Unfortunately, the sign on the door at Mutual Fish Company at 2335 Rainier Avenue South in Seattle doesn’t say “GONE FISHIN,’” it says, “STORE CLOSING.”

A variety that reflects the neighborhood’s history.
