San Antonio has lost another fun annual event in the COVID-19 era.
The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo canceled its carnival and fairgrounds due to the rise of coronavirus cases in Bexar County, according to San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo spokesperson Lauren Sides.
The livestock, horse shows and Charreada will still take place. The health and safety of our community is of utmost importance, and we greatly appreciate the support and understanding of the community as we navigate these unprecedented times, Cody Davenport, executive director and CEO of the show, said in a statement. We look forward to a successful Rodeo and livestock show in order to generate funds to educate future generations.

Meat lovers, you don t want to miss a steak deal at a local pub Thursday.
Barton s Boozery is offering an $8 steak special and salad combo from 7 p.m. to midnight, the bar announced on its Facebook page Wednesday.
The bar noted the special will last until it runs out of the product.
According to its Facebook page, Barton s Boozery, located at 7050 W Military Dr., says it is a good old fashioned bar with four pool tables, two dart machines and a jukebox. However, a live DJ is there Thursday through Saturday.

Mayor Ron Nirenberg recently took time out of his coronavirus pandemic schedule to ease the concerns of a second-grade class at Fort Sam Houston Elementary.
Kim Ware, a second-grade teacher at the elementary school, said on her Twitter account Saturday that the San Antonio mayor wrote back to every second grader who sent him a letter expressing their feelings on COVID-19. Impressed with our leadership, she wrote in her post that included photos of the letters Nirenberg sent.
Local pizzeria adds another perk for H-E-B partners

H-E-B partners listen up. You can grab a pizza discount at Mellow Mushroom this week.
On Tuesday, the local pizzeria announced on its Instagram page that it is offering H-E-B employees a 25 percent discount off regular priced menu items, as well as half-price happy hour pricing on its adult drinks.
Mellow Mushroom said the discount, which is offered until Thursday, is its way of saying thank you to H-E-B employees for their hard work during the COVID-19 era.
The restaurant is asking for H-E-B partners to present their employee badges or proof of employment to their server or bartender before the meal to receive the discount.
